Engine Teardown – Sump & Accessory case

-Rolled engine over & sump popped off, much easier than expected.

-While on it’s side I removed all the lower crankcase bolts & tapped at lower accessory case to remove, it popped open but I found it to be hanging up on one of the upper locating dowels so lubed up the dowel & lightly pried with a timber wedge.

-Removed & tagged both idler gears/shafts & tacho drive shaft.

-Removed all crankcase bolts including the sneaky one hiding behind the cam gear & fuel flow divider

-Built and fitted case jack (2x pieces of angle drilled to fit to cylinder studs & 2x pieces of threaded rod)

-Tightened jack to put gentle pressure on case, applied some heat to the case seam & left to hopefully pop open over time
